100% hitchhiking - 100% world tour - Since 2013 - By Florence Renault
AUSTRALIA: SOUTH & CENTER
from February, 13th 2016 to July, 12th 2017
After hitchhiking a sailboat across the Tasman Sea, I arrived on Christmas Eve in Newcastle, on the east coast of Australia. My hitchhiking world tour continued up along the sea to Townsville then came back down inland to Sidney. In February, I went deep into the Australian desert to reach the village of Renmark where I spend three months. Thanks to a working holliday visa (WHV), I worked as a cellarhand in a winery with my boyfriend Sebastian. Then we traveled again to discover Melbourne and its cultural activities. We hitchhiked along the southern coast to Port Augusta where we branched off to cross the center of the country and admire the famous red mountain Uluru. We finally reached Darwin, on the northern coast. This great crossing (detailed in French in Chapka's blog) concluded a seven months journey in Australia, before the new adventure in East Timor .
