PREPARATIONS

I had the dream to travel around the world for fifteen years. The day I set a starting date for my trip, it became a project. I left myself three months to warn my family, my friends and make the material preparations that seemed necessary to me :

- Getting an international vaccination card with the following vaccines: Rabies, Yellow fever, Typhoid, Diphtheria-Tetanus-Poliomyelitis

Hepatitis A and B, (Japanese encephalitis made during travel)

- Renewed passport

- International driving license

 

- Health Insurance Subscription

For the first three months with my Gold MasterCard

After : Insurance with Chapka

 

- Renewal of my Gold MasterCard valid for the next three years

Getting travelers checks in dollars (useless today)

- Purchase of material :

Large 45 liter backpack

Small 20 liter backpack (replaced by a 30 liter)

Handbag (replaced by a multi-purpose coton tot bag)

Video camera, tripod and gopro (renewed along the way)

Small budget laptop (replaced after a year by my old Mac Book Pro 15 which is too big to travel but ideal for video editing)

Clothes for 10 days (reduced to 7 days)

Toiletry bag

Pharmacy kit

Brazil / Argentina travel guides (After that, I had no guides for the other countries, I found informations online, in tourist offices, among tourists and locals)

Ukulele (abandoned after 6 months because too bulky)

Items for the sailing: waterproof pants and jacket, gummy boots, 20 T-shirts, books (all abandoned at the end of the Atlantic crossing)
